Ingredients
- 2.0 to 2.3 pounds oranges (about 4 medium)
- 1 lemon (zest and juice)
- 1/3 cup water
- 4 cups granulated sugar
Instructions
- Wash and scrub the oranges and lemon thoroughly.
- Cut off the ends of the oranges, halve them, and slice each half into eight pieces, discarding any seeds.
- Puree the orange pieces in a food processor until finely chopped.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the pureed fruit with lemon zest, lemon juice, water, and sugar; stir well.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 30-35 minutes until it thickens enough to slide off a spoon in sheets; test with the cold plate method.
- Pour into jars or containers and let cool before storing in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freezing for three months.
