Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1000 grams chuck or braising steak
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 2 cm fresh ginger, chopped
- 0.5 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 2 teaspoons ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 0.5 teaspoon ground cumin
- 0.5 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 0.5 cup water
- 3 cm cinnamon stick
- 1 dried bay leaf
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (plus more for garnish)
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Gather and prepare all ingredients by chopping onions, garlic, and ginger.
- Optional: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat; sauté onions, garlic, and ginger until softened.
- In the slow cooker, add sautéed aromatics (if used), chuck or braising steak, spices (turmeric, coriander, garam masala, cumin, red chili powder), cinnamon stick, bay leaf, salt, beef broth, and water.
- Cover and cook on low heat for about 8 hours until the beef is tender.
- Before serving, remove cinnamon stick and bay leaf; stir in chopped cilantro.
