Ingredients
- 1.5 cups warm water
- 1 tablespoon dry yeast (optional)
- 4–5 cups flour
- Salt (to taste)
- 14 oz spinach, finely chopped
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 7 oz vegan Feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 tablespoon red paprika flakes
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon tomato paste
Instructions
- Prepare the dough by mixing warm water and optional dry yeast in a large mixing bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Gradually add flour and salt while kneading until you have a soft dough. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm spot for about 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, prepare the filling by combining spinach, onion, vegan Feta cheese, red paprika flakes, black pepper, tomato paste, and additional salt in a mixing bowl.
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into equal portions and roll each into thin circles about 10 inches in diameter.
- Place filling on one half of each circle and fold over to seal tightly.
- Heat a frying pan or griddle over medium heat and cook each Gözleme for approximately 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
