  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 3 large ripe bananas (mashed)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9X5 loaf pan with non-stick spray and parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Combine melted butter and brown sugar in another bowl; mix well. Add mashed bananas, sour cream, and vanilla extract; mix until smooth.
  4. Incorporate eggs one at a time into the wet mixture. Gradually add dry ingredients until just combined—lumps from bananas are okay!
  5. Fold in both types of chocolate chips. Pour batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in the pan for about ten minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
