Instructions
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma. Allow it to cool.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the cooled butter with both sugars until combined. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla; mix until creamy.
- Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Chill the dough for at least one hour (up to 72 hours for best results).
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Portion dough into balls and bake for 8-10 minutes until golden around edges.
- Let cool on baking sheets briefly before transferring to wire racks.
