- 1 (12-ounce) jar maraschino cherries, reserving 1-2 Tablespoons cherry juice

- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 4 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup white chocolate melting wafers
Instructions
- Drain and chop maraschino cherries; let dry on paper towels.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a stand mixer, cream butter and cream cheese until fluffy; gradually add sugar until pale.
- Mix in egg, vanilla extract, almond extract, and reserved cherry juice until combined.
- Fold in dry ingredients and chopped cherries; chill dough for at least one hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop dough onto the baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes or until edges are golden.
- For optional white chocolate drizzle: melt white chocolate and drizzle over cooled cookies.
